Steady On Cameron Jerome

Cameron Jerome is in dream land and says he sometimes has to pinch himself.

Steady on.

The transfer of the Cardiff City star is expected to be completed on Wednesday when he undergoes a medical.

The 19-year-old, as we reported the other day, has already agreed personal terms and the clubs have now agreed what appears to be an initial fee of £3million with further payments due depending on how he does.

He said: ‘I am excited by the move and sometimes you have to pinch yourself to realise what is going on around you. It was only a year or so ago I was playing for the Cardiff youth team.’

The young striker, who scored 20 goals last season, says that it is a good thing for him not to jump straight into the Premiership as he is still developing and realised he will need to ‘knuckle down and expand’ on his game.

Adding: ‘I know that I am going to have to prove my worth.’

He finished with what we all like, a bit of positive talk, ‘Birmingham are a big club and they want to get back to the Premiership straight away, hopefully I will be able to help them do that.’

Jerome was being tracked by Sheffield United, Portsmouth and Charlton but his agent (Tony Finnigan) advised him that Blues were a better option for his development out of the critical glare of the Premiership.
