Spector Taking Blues Medical

Skysports.com understands Jonathan Spector is to undergo a medical at Birmingham City ahead of finalising a move to St Andrew’s.

The 25-year-old is available on a free transfer after his contract at West Ham United expired and he is now poised to join Championship rivals Birmingham.

He is due to have a medical on Monday before signing a two-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months, with Chris Hughton’s side.

Spector, who can play in defence or midfield, made over 100 appearances for the Hammers during five years at Upton Park.

Blues boss Hughton is keen to continue rebuilding his squad and the acquisition of Spector would add versatility to his ranks.

Birmingham’s bid for promotion back to the top flight starts on Saturday when Hughton takes his team to Derby County for his first competitive match in charge.
