A bright spark on t was a bit of a gloomy night at the Den.
Whilst a lot of talk in the aftermath of the game has surrounded Kristian Pedersen’s disallowed goal and the rather more troublesome news surrounding Jeremie Bela, there was some incredibly positive news to come from out 0-0 draw in South London.
After nearly a year out of action, Wednesday night saw the return to the first team of midfielder Maikel Kieftenbeld. The Dutchman came on as a replacement for Jude Bellingham in the latter stages of the second half and speaking to the club after the game, he talked about the relief he feels being back on the pitch:
“I was in the squad for the last couple of games and I was waiting to come on, and today it happened and I’m just really glad I’m back. I’ve tried to keep myself calm and said to myself that I have to wait, but once you’re in the squad you just want to play.”
Will Kieftenbeld have a huge part to play going forward?
Yes
No
And that sentiment of joy was shared by the Bluenoses on social media as they welcomed him back into the fray.
Great to see him back on the pitch

Although with the run we’re on right now, it might be hard for him to get his way into the first team if things go the way they have been.
