Should Maghoma Start?

Maghoma is one of those players who looks clumsy. He seems to be all arms and legs when he runs and he always looks like he is going to lose the ball.

But looks can be deceiving and in this instance, that phrase is very true. The one thing that has struck me is that he is very fast. For a lad the size that he is, I was not expecting such a turn of pace. He has more muscle on his bicep than I do in my entire body, and yet he runs as though he is as light as a feather.

His last goal coming against Leeds showed that he can dribble the ball as well as having the composure to finish. I know this part of his game was not as strong as it could have been in recent weeks and has led to many fans not wanting him involved.

However, his attitude is what stands out for me. He is a bench player and there is no denying that. If he was to start an important league game, I can almost bet my house that there would be a Twitter Meltdown amongst many Bluenoses.

But he has accepted his position in the squad. He knows he is there to make an impact when he comes on. He knows that he has to keep working in training so that when he does get a chance, he can finish off games as I have mentioned above, like the Leeds United match.

However, when you have a player that is so compliant, they are branded ‘the managers dream.’ This sounds brilliant but in fact it may not be quite as it seems. He is happy to be an impact player and doesn’t kick up a fuss if he is not starting.

So will a player who has a short fuse and is demanding to start when he is on the bench, get on before Maghoma due to the differing attitudes? It is easy to leave a player who is calm and accepting on the bench than it is a hot head.

So I am not sure whether Maghoma will ever start. Should he start? I believe that if we are going to play the best team. He will start out wide and that leaves Gray to be a number 10 with Donaldson just ahead. But that’s just my opinion.
