Should Birmingham Take A Risk And Shell Out For League One Top Scorer? – Have Your Say

|

With Nottingham Forest reportedly close to sealing the £6m transfer of Lewis Grabban, the club will likely move on in their search for a new striker.

Top quality 20-goal a season poachers are hard to come by, especially when even League One striker’s like Jack Marriott have such a high price tag.

The Daily Mail reported back in April that Peterborough are demanding £5m plus add-ons for the 23-year-old. It’s a steep number for a player who hasn’t proven himself in the Championship.

Chairman Darragh MacAnthony confirmed on Twitter that he had received five bids from two different clubs for the striker; none of which have seemingly matched the Posh’s asking price:

Peterborough are definitely playing hardball, and the question is should Garry Monk take a risk on Marriott? Our bid for Grabban suggests we could match the asking price, but is it something we should do?

The forward has pace to burn and could complement a target man like Lukas Jutkiewicz, but even though he scored 33 goals in all competitions last season, it was the first time he had reached 20 goals in a single campaign. Should we make a bid for him? Let me know in the poll:
