Should Birmingham Go All Out To Sign £5m Scottish International? Have Your Say

|

Hibernian midfielder John McGinn is believed to be a “genuine target” for the club according to the Birmingham Mail journalist Brian Dick.

Celtic are said to be leading the chase at the moment. The Scottish Daily Mail say a £1.5m bid was rejected by Hibs from the Scottish champions but the Daily Record say a second offer is being lined up.

With Garry Monk already having signed Kristian Pedersen for £2.2m, it seems fair to suggest that we do have the resources to compete with the Hoops for McGinn.

Of course, the Scottish side can offer Champions League football, but there are no guarantees the 23-year-old will be a regular first-team player at Parkhead.

After scoring six goals and providing eight assists in 43 matches for Hibernian last campaign in a central midfield role, he would perfectly fit into the 4-4-2 system that Garry Monk likes to use.

If we do have the funds, I think we could still have a chance of beating Celtic to the punch here. The Scottish Daily Mail believe Hibs have set a £5m asking price on the Scottish international, and while that would likely be too much, we could certainly improve on the £1.5m that has been offered so far by Brendan Rodgers’ side.

What do you think? Should we break the bank to sign McGinn? Let me know in the poll.
