Should Birmingham Challenge Turkish Giants For Polish Starlet?

|

Turkish newspaper Takvim are reporting that we are vying with Galatasaray for Arsenal defender Krystian Bielik.

The Pole played ten games for us in the second half of the 2016/17 season under Gianfranco Zola and Harry Redknapp, but it looks as though Garry Monk is also a fan of the 20-year-old.

He struggled for fitness whilst out on loan at Walsall last campaign, but he is a young talent with many seeing him as having a bright future in the game.

We could do with another body in the centre of defence. Marc Roberts failed to convince for the majority of last campaign, and with Paul Robinson having taken up a non-playing role full-time, it looks like we’ll have to rely heavily on Michael Morrison and Harlee Dean.

To be honest with you though, I was hoping for another experienced centre-half who could challenge our first-choice centre-back pairing. On that front, Bielik isn’t someone who would fit the bill. Combined with his recent injury record, a second loan spell or a permanent transfer for the Polish youth international would be a risk.

What do you think? Would you welcome back the former loanee? Let me know in the poll:
