Following Saturday afternoons 1-1 draw at Loftus Road against Queens Park Rangers, it was clear to see in Ryan Shotton’s post match interview just how disappointed his was with only picking up a point.

Despite the club extending their unbeaten league run to five games, and away run to eight, Shotton admitted that he was disappointed to have lost his man, who was Steven Caulker at the time, at the corner which resulted in Rangers levelling the scores with six minutes to go until half time.

However, the clear dissatisfaction in Shotton’s tone of voice is a testament to how far he has come since the last time when Blues visited the London based club where the former Derby County defender endured a torrid fixture which saw him be at fault for both games.

Plenty of fans, myself included, criticised the defender after that performance but so far this season there has been absolutely no room for criticism because he has been one of the stand out players in the team, if not the player of the season so far.

At half time in the game, Blues manager Gary Rowett confessed that Shotton had apologised to the rest of his team mates for losing Caulker at the corner but Rowett was quick to brush the blame off any of the players, especially the 27-year-old defender who has been immense for Blues in recent weeks.

With just one ‘mistake’ to note from Shotton so far this season, and it’s in inverted comers because lets face it, it was hardly a massive mistake, Blues fans certainly shouldn’t get on his back and call for his head. Let us remember, it’s life, people make mistakes for God sake!
