Shinnie Out, Diego In?

If reports are to be believed, Andy Shinnie has agreed a loan deal at Rotherham United. However, official club sources have not yet confirmed this news.

If the story is true, it will stoke the fire as far as the Diego Fabbrini situation is concerned. Blues are interested in the 25 year-old Italian who is currently on loan at Middlesbrough from parent club Watford.

Recent reports suggest that Blues are preparing a bid of over £1m for Fabbrini who impressed during a loan spell at St. Andrew`s last season. In order for the move to happen, Middlesbrough and Watford must mutually agree to terminate the loan deal prematurely.

If Shinnie does temporarily move to the New York Stadium, that would leave Blues with only loanee Jon Toral capable of playing in the ‘number ten` role – so it could be assumed that Gary Rowett has a replacement in the pipeline.

When asked, a club source would only confirm that “one or two things are close”.
