Sheffield United striker Che Adams is currently in Birmingham undergoing a medical before finalising his transfer to Blues.
The deal to take Adams to St. Andrews involves add-ons but the overall package is closer to United’s £2m asking price.
Gary Rowett was hoping the complete the deal before Saturday’s goalless draw with Cardiff but couldn’t due to hold-ups. Adams was named amongst The Blades’ substitutes for their 1-0 defeat at Bolton.
After seeing their two initial bids rejected, any possible transfer was seen as a no-go. But with the player wanting to move, Rowett stretched his budget to bring in his summer -long target.
If the deal completes as expected this afternoon, Adams is likely to make his debut at Leeds on Saturday.
