Birmingham midfielder Sebastian Larsson will only be allowed to leave St Andrews when the club see fit and ready to do so.

It had been thought that the player would be allowed to leave in January so the club would get a fee for him as his contract is up at the end of the season.

Larsson has failed to agree new terms with Blues and looked like moving to Newcastle, but personal terms could not be agreed with them either.

That paved the way for Blackburn to step in with a lower offer, but the powers that be have now said that he stays.

McLeish told Press Association Sport: ‘There’s nothing happening at the moment with Seb. Everything has got to be right for the club as well.

‘Let’s not forget, first and foremost, we have to do what’s right for the club and Seb is still here. He’s still here and fighting for a place.

‘There has been a bit of interest, no doubt about it, but he’s still a Birmingham player.’
