Season over and what priorities lie ahead for Blues.

Praises have been sung, accolades have been handed out and calmness now reigns at St.Andrews.

As one rollercoaster season ends, I guess we now need to focus on the next. Eyes naturally get fixed on who has dropped from the Premiership and who has been promoted from League One.

Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield will be enjoying the parachute money and will all be a threat in what will be another very tough division. Next season will be littered by ex-Premiership clubs of recent years which should make everything that extra bit interesting.

Nothing is easy in the Championship and that is what makes it such a great division. Plenty of games, proper kick-off times and loads of excitement come match days.

Blues at the moment typify the Championship with our gutsy, honest and full bloodied approach. To build on all that, what we fans surely want now is a bit of quality in a number of positions-particularly the midfield where we are quite predictable.

This area is, in my opinion, where we will stutter big time next season. All this could of course change, should Garry Monk have the resources to completely rebuild.

Davis, Keifenbeld and Gary Gardner will be decent enough but without Keifenbeld for much of next season’s campaign, our problem area becomes just that. My guess is that Monk will totally reshape our midfield with the addition of skilled players as opposed to just holding one’s for perhaps home games.

We desperately need a creative touch that will provide more overall possession. Nearly everything depends on funds and what’s available and of course whether Adams is sold. In recent times our prized assets like Gray, Butland and Redmond were sold with no rebuilding to show for it. This time around I feels it will be different, because Monk will demand funds. Whatever he decides and approves will be supported by the fans and ‘in Monk we trust’ has never been more apt.
