Sask’s Thoughts on The Kit

So, both the home kit and the away kit have been revealed and having had time to think whether I like them or not, I have finally decided on my opinion.

For me, my initial reaction to the Blues’ home shirt was that it looked like someone had accidentally got a piece of masking tape stuck diagonally on the garment and ripped it off which removed the royal blue colour.

But upon seeing it in action in the last pre-season friendly, I have grown to like the shirt quite considerably. The royal blue is always a must with white shorts and the stripe does add a bit of flair to it. But I like the heritage behind it.

Having the badge changed this year to represent the club’s 140 year anniversary really brought home to me what a great club this is. Now they have incorporated this heritage into the kit design, I am even more pleased to support such a wonderful club who cares about it’s past.

The away kit I was also skeptical about. I liked the shorts and sock combination as I felt this matched as Gok Wan would say, the players could ‘work it.’

But the shirt was very garish. Aesthetically I don’t like the shirt although it does look better on the players than on the hanger. However, the sentiment behind representing Francis is one that I am all for.

He was a brilliant player and most Blues’ fans who got to see him play often revel in the nostalgia of telling us younger fans all about him. Due to this, I can accept the away kit as a symbol for the past but I’m afraid I won’t be wearing it around town. (But I shall buy it for sentimental reasons.)

Are you buying any of the shirts? What do you think about them?
