Sask’s Thoughts On Legzdins

Adam Legzdins was always seen as the back up goalkeeper when he signed for Birmingham City.

At first glance, the young lad didn’t seem to fit the bill as Randolph’s replacement. He seemed a bit lightweight and not very commanding initially but I have to admit, I was wrong.

Having seen him now in two friendlies, I have grown to become a fan of him. He has very good reactions which can’t really be taught so is an obvious positive to his play. He also has a loud voice. It goes without saying that this vital in order for the defence to gain confidence in him.

Kuszczak was always tipped as the number one goalkeeper when he joined this transfer window. But he hasn’t made as much as an impact on me than Legzdins. His clearance cost Birmingham City a goal in the pre-season friendly and I don’t like to judge at such an early stage, but it doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Focusing back on Legzdins (No, I have no idea how to pronounce it either), he has all of the attributes to succeed as the number one goalkeeper this time out.

He has a brilliant leap to catch the ball from corners, again this is a fault of Kuszczak’s who doesn’t command this particular situation as confidently as Adam.

I am fairly certain that Kuszczak will have been an automatic number one in most people’s minds just a week or so ago. But I believe that this isn’t the case anymore and that Legzdins is fully capable of taking the number one jersey.
