Sask’s Thoughts On Charlee Adams

Charlee Adams, once of West Ham United, joined Birmingham City in 2011 and hasn’t looked back since. One player who has real potential to push into the first team and this was shown by his inclusion in last weeks match day squad against Ipswich.

He is one of those players that I would describe as a livewire. Despite being safe with both his passing and tackling, he does have that extra bit of confidence in his own ability to try new things. He is always looking to get on the ball and trying to make things happen. This was shown when he came on in the final few minutes last weekend, when he took a shot from outside of the penalty area seconds after he entered the fray.

I have admired out U21’s a lot this year. I believe we have a very strong spine going from Harding through to Cooper, McDonald and Adams, before Jones and McFarlane complete the backbone. But the player that makes this tick has to be Adam. He is the glue that makes it all stick together.

Despite his well trimmed appearance, he is not one of those players that spends more time in front of the mirror than they do practising simple skills. He is always ready to do the dirty work and track back which is very noticeable every time I have seen him play. His cardio vascular fitness which includes stamina, is brilliant for a young lad, which he is.

The official site has recorded Rowett to have said, ‘He has done great in the 21s and has probably been the standout player in those games.’ This is a very fair representation of why Charlee can make the step up to senior games.

He was offered the opportunity to go out on loan to Barnsley but rejected this. In hindsight, this was a good decision. He has learnt about the set up of the club and with Viv Solomon-Otabor also making the step up, it can show that with the right attitude, it can be achieved.
