New Blues boss Gary Rowett is hoping his team can regenerate the positivity that used to be associated with Birmingham home games.

Birmingham host Watford in his first game in charge and the new boss is hoping for a positive turn out.

‘I think it would be fantastic if we could get 20,000 plus in St. Andrew`s and get it rocking. We need as many people coming down and supporting us as we can. If we can just get a little bit of that atmosphere into the ground then that can really help the players and it is going to be important that fans come and show their support on Tuesday night. Hopefully we`ll replicate that with the effort, determination and performance.’

The Blues boss knows that he cannot just expect the noise to return just by asking for it, though. He explained

“I always say to the players that they have to create something for the fans to want to get behind. Sometimes that can be an early tackle, an early run forward, an early shot, an early one v one going past someone. That can lift the crowd and keep that atmosphere going for maybe ten or 15 minutes if you do it well enough.

“I will be certainly putting the emphasis on the players but it would be great if the fans can help out and support, as I think they have done. Even in the period when Birmingham have not won as many games, the fans have predominantly been positive. That`s something we are fortunate to have.”

Rowett was speaking on the clubs official site. It would seem the manager is already tapping into his connection with the fans in an intelligent way. Lets hope the attendance is positive tonight.
