Next season sees the end of the emergency loan window for football league clubs, a window occasionally utilised by Blues manager Gary Rowett – the most recent example being the signing of Kyle Lafferty from Norwich City.

But the Blues boss was optimistic about the system being scrapped because of the promising array of youngsters coming through the clubs academy.

Rowett told bcfc.com – “We are always looking to promote them (the youth players). The one thing I have tried to do this season is to have half an eye on next season as well”.

With the emergence of Viv Solomon-Otabor into the first team picture, Rowett holds hope for other young and promising stars, most notably Charlee Adams, who could be in the squad to face Cardiff City on Saturday.

Rowett is also closely watching Emmanuel Mbende, Alex Jones, Reece Brown, Koby Arthur, Ronan Hale and goalkeeper Connal Trueman. However, some of the less established younger players may be sent out on loan to gain valuable experience.

The Blues boss told the Birmingham Mail – “The obvious one will be Charlee Adams, who going into next season it would be nice to learn a little bit more about whether he can handle a game from the start. That will come into my thinking but by no means has that team be selected yet. Viv would be another one that comes into that category”.

Meanwhile, Mitch Hancox has spoken of his desire to play first team football, be it at Blues or elsewhere. He told the Birmingham Mail – “Obviously I would love to stay here next season. But I want to be playing from the first game and I want to play a proper season where I`ve played 30 or 40 games, to show people what I am all about.”
