Birmingham City supporters should be expecting to see a very settled first team under Gary Rowett.

Rowett is keen to give every player his chance to play and get into the team but has revealed that someone would have to have four or five bad games before he would drop them.

Confidence goes both ways and it will probably work in Rowett’s favor that he will back a player through a mini bad period in form. The discussion comes after a poor Blackpool winner was enough to settle the game.

The manager doesn’t overly focus on one mistake at the back. He probably quite rightly also pointed to missed opportunities at the other end of the pitch that also cost the team.

Birmingham are likely to remain unchanged at the back when they play Reading this weekend. Robinson and Morrison have been impressive under Rowett and important in the unbeaten run.

Based on what he has said since the Blackpool defeat, there won’t be any drastic changes to the team. He remains confident in their ability and believes they deserve to play.

What that means for the likes of Grant Hall and David Edgar remains to be seen. Birmingham will need to use their squad over the Christmas period and Robinson at the age of 36 may need to sit out a few games.
