Gary Rowett is still on a mission to bring new players into Birmingham City, but stresses that patience is the key. The Blues manager has had mixed emotions in the market this summer bringing in six new players, but missing out on other prime targets.

A source close to the club said- “Gary is forever on the phone trying to strike deals. He is hopeful of landing a few more before the end of August, but will not rush. He also will not sign for signings sake”.

It is understood that Rowett may be waiting for Premier League clubs to submit their 25-man squad`s to the league bodies before attempting a couple of ambitious loan deal`s. And reports linking the club with a bid for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Peniel Mlapa arose this week after German newspaper De Westen claimed that Blues had tabled an offer.

Blues announced the squad numbers for the 2015/16 season today and the list contained only 22 players. Rowett would ideally like a squad of around 24 or 25 and he will continue his pursuit of fresh blood.

The source said- “Offers are on the table for a couple, one or two other are on Gary`s radar. Now we play the waiting game”.

Blues` squad numbers – 1. Adam Legzdins, 2. Neal Eardley, 3. Jonathan Grounds, 4. Paul Robinson, 5. David Edgar, 6. Maikel Kieftenbeld, 7. Dmearai Gray, 8. Stephen Gleeson, 9. Clayton Donaldson, 10.
