Blues manager Gary Rowett wants his side to bounce straight back from Saturday`s disappointing defeat at Queens Park Rangers starting with the visit of Hull City tomorrow night.

Rowett told bcfc.com: “The players are looking to bounce back from a poor performance at QPR.

“It’s going to be a difficult game and we need to be at our best. I’m hoping for a reaction. We’re in a fantastic position and there’s progress from last year.”

At his pre-match press conference earlier today, Rowett also confirmed that both James Vaughan and Stephen Gleeson are doubts for tomorrow’s game.

He said: “Vaughany pulled his calf in training on Monday and it looks like he might be out for two weeks. I`d possibly consider bringing another striker in.

“We could end up going into tomorrow night`s game with no striker on the bench. Obviously we don’t want that either.”

On Gleeson`s fitness, Rowett added: “Glees probably shouldn’t have played on Saturday really. He had tightness in his chest and didn’t feel so well in the morning.

“I would suggest he’s going to be a doubt at this moment in time”.

Former Blues boss Steve Bruce will be in the away dugout for tomorrow evening`s game as he hopes to get his Hull side another valuable three points in their quest for automatic promotion.

Speaking to hullcitytigers.com Bruce said: “I don’t think I’ve ever had a game on a Thursday night during the normal season before, but we`ll be ready for it.

“We know we’re capable of going away from home and getting something. We’re looking forward to the challenge that Birmingham will offer.”

Bruce has been frustrated that his team have only been able to register one goal in their last four games but is confident that they can rediscover their scoring touch.

He said: “We’ve kept clean sheets, but we haven’t been able to score a goal in our last two at home.

“It’s been a little bit frustrating because we’ve done enough in terms of creating the chances but we haven’t taken them.

“We’ve dominated all the stats apart from the vital one.”
