Birmingham City secured a very good 2-0 away win at Ellan Road last weekend. Rowett was so pleased with the result he labelled it one of the best performances since he and his team took over.

The away side were able to frustrate Leeds United and ended up upsetting the crowd. A key component in securing away victories in the Championship. Those truly difficult places to go are those with fans that sing their team through, when a goal down.

‘To limit a good Leeds side to probably one clear chance in the game, which Tomasz has made a magnificent save in the first half.’ Rowett told Blues TV.

Blues were back to their counter-attacking best as they sat in and then threatened on the break time and time again. Rowett indeed thought the team could have had more than the score-line reflected.

‘But to score two goals, I’m delighted and to keep another clean sheet.’

A victory away at Leeds is a great result and a testament to what the demands of the Championship require. If you can defend well, you always have a chance. Birmingham are difficult to beat and therefore only ever a whisker away from 3 points.
