Rowett Confident in the Championship

Blues boss Gary Rowett has been impressed by his sides ability to put defeats behind them with important wins straight off the bat.

Birmingham beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 after a 4-0 defeat at home to Derby. And, after losing to Blackpool, Birmingham went on to beat Reading 6-1 at home.

said Rowett.

“I think that`s really important to make sure that one defeat doesn`t become two or three and then all of a sudden a little bit of doubt creeps into the side.

Confidence is something that Birmingham now have, as Rowett mentioned it is vitally important to get that belief into players. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the squad seem like a totally different bunch of players under Rowett.

“We`re now on the back of four wins out of five again which is very difficult to do at any level, let alone the Championship, which as we know is a competitive league.

“We`ve played against and beaten some very good sides. The Forest match was another example that we shouldn`t be fearful of anyone.”

It seems to me like Rowett really does fear no one in this division, the kind of man that constantly challenges his players to beat what is in front of them.

Birmingham have effectively punished teams on the break when they have needed to, whilst also being able to put together some good football.

The team has a dynamic confidence about it that seems to be in keeping with the image the manager projects. An interesting time to say the least.
