Rowett and Phelan Lead the Race

Both Mike Phelan and Gary Rowett lead the race to become the next Birmingham city manager according to the bookies.

Phelan has been around the block and clocked up many honors, mostly whilst working along side Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. He has Premier League titles, two league cups and two Champions League finals to boast on his CV.

In my opinion Birmingham need a steady pair of hands with lots of expirience and someone like Mike Phelan fits the bill perfectly. We cannot afford to have someone learning on the job, this next appointment will be hugely important for the future of the club.

Not to mention Phelan’s connections within football, he could open up a whole new market to Birmingham in terms of attracting players and sorting out some short term loan deals to help us out.

Gary Rowett has also been in the running and looks like a possible shout. The former Blues defender has done remarkably well with Burton Albion, he even has taken them as far as a playoff finial, losing to Fleetwood Town 1-0.

Rowett would require some learning time, indeed he may well still be learning his trade and for that reason I think he should stay in a lower league. We know from signing player’s from those lower leagues that it often doesn’t work out, or they can’t add that extra bit of quality needed to finish a game with some points.

it is clear who my favorite is, indeed anyone who is able to show that they have management experience to the level that we require is a favorite of mine. I would like to see an older manager brought in, someone for the players to look up to and trust.

Do let us know in the comments who you would like to take over the job.
