The Wigan manager was delighted with his teams performance over Birmingham. They are now looking to kick on a progress up the table and based on yesterday, there is little reason why not.

Wigan ran out 4-0 winners over Birmingham. Rosler seems to have seen this coming as he says his team has been developing in each game this season.

He felt Wigan controlled the game and kept the ball well. The intensity was also pleasing for him and when that dropped the substitutions did well to raise it again. Maloney and WagHorn combined for the fourth goal.

The second goal was important, he felt, as it settled the team into the game right before half time.

His full interview is quoted below,Rosler on WiganLatics.co.uk:

“Today was another game in which we continued our progression’

“It started at Charlton, then at Cardiff, Blackpool last week and obviously today we rewarded ourselves with goals.

“[We had] 17 attempts, eight on target, we controlled the game, had the majority of possession and played attractive football with a lot of goals.

“I think the whole team worked extremely hard and when we dropped our intensity slightly and we had to bring on fresh reinforcements, collectively it was a complete performance.”

“I think there`s always ways to improve but today we were very effective, we didn`t waste lots of chances like we did against Blackpool and it`s always important to get the first and second goal to settle the nerves.”

“We kept on attacking and I think that it is very important that we don`t stop and try and keep possession in the wrong areas; the hunger and the appetite for offensive football was there today.

“Blackburn lost today but we know how hard it is at their place after last year but we now have a two-week break and as a manager I cross my fingers the players on international duty come back in the same form but the rest of the squad will have some good training days this week and then have a nice weekend next time.”
