Paul Robinson has been named as Birmingham City`s ‘club captain` for the 2015/16 season. The 36 year-old defender has been described as a leader by Blues boss Gary Rowett.

Rowett told bcfc.com- “‘If you look at Robbo, he has been the captain since we came in. And he’s a leader. That’s the thing. He shows leadership on and off the pitch. It’s a natural choice”.

Robinson, who has made 119 appearances for the club since signing as a free agent back in 2012, is likely to find his game-time cut next season. Pre-season indications suggest that Rowett favours a central defensive partnership of Michael Morrison and Jonathan Spector, with Robinson acting as cover along with David Edgar.

But the Watford-born skipper will have a big role off the pitch as he helps aide the development of the U21`s.

Rowett now has a decision to make with regards to the team captain. Paul Caddis was a fine leader on several occasions last term but Michael Morrison, who wore the armband against Leicester City at St. Andrew`s last week, is also a contender.
