Ridgewell Loan Rumbles On

Are we signing Vile’s Liam Ridgewell or loan or what?

Whilst saying he didn’t like speaking about others club’s players, Steve Bruce earlier said he was looking at Ridgewell.

Martin O’Neill yesterday said, not specifically about Ridgewell as others have reported today, that he may consider giving some players a month out but he hasn’t been contacted by Blues.

However today both the Mail and Bruce have said:

‘I will look at it and monitor things.

‘I’ve said before that I’m happy with the squad I have got. If there is the necessity for a loan, I know it’s there.’

The Mail commented:

‘Ridgwell was up for grabs at £2million on the final day of the transfer window, but Blues did not have enough time to complete a deal.

‘Instead, a loan was mooted, whereby Villa receive the cash if Blues win promotion. This was not acceptable to them.’

Which has been denied by O’Neill.

Now Ridgewell would improve our defence if signed permanently, but as he seems to be in O’Neill’s plans and has played a fair bit of football this season for them why the hell would we agree to have him for a month to keep him fit?
