Kerim Frei was unveiled as an Istanbul Basaksehir player this morning, the day after it was confirmed that Birmingham City had agreed to sell him to the Turkish club.

During the unveiling, the president of Istanbul Basaksehir, Goksel Gumusdag revealed the fee that they will pay for the 23-year-old.

The translation reads: ‘We have signed a three-year contract with Kerim Frei. We will pay ?1m for Kerim Frei and bonuses for a total of ?1.5m.’

From this it’s clear that Blues have made a significant loss on the player. After signing Frei for around £2.2m in January, they have allowed him to move on and lost around £1m.

Istanbul Basaksehir will pay an initial ?1m and an extra ?500,000 in add-ons.
