Speaking on the official site the reserve team boss beamed following their 1-0 win over Noel Blake’s Stoke City.

It was a small win that doesn’t do the performance justice as the team dominated proceedings.

The reserve team is now unbeaten in their five games since the start of the reserve season.

‘It was a nice polished and hard working exercise and they did very well.

‘The result is quite a lot for me and I’m delighted with the way we’ve started the season.

‘We had one or two of the fringe players that put a good shift in with likes of Neil Kilkenny, Neil Danns, Marcos Painter and Colin Doyle.

‘Their attitude was excellent and it helped raise the game of the youngsters around them

‘It was a competitive game and a good test, as you would expect from any team managed by Noel Blake.

‘We dominated the play and to be fair if we’d taken a few of the chances we created early on it might have been a different game.

‘Ollie Allen had a couple of good opportunities and Peter Till had a good chance before we got the goal just before half time.

‘Neil Kilkenny fitted a ball between two of their defenders which Neil Danns ran on to fired home from 12 yards with very good finish.’
