Just hours after Birmingham City were reportedly ready to make a move for Norwich City striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel, the Dutch striker has joined Vitesse Arnhem.

The deal which takes the 27-year-old back to his home nation was confirmed on the Canaries official website, stating that the former Sporting Lisbon striker has joined Vitesse for an undisclosed fee.

Van Wolfswinkel joined Norwich for a club record fee of £8.5 million in 2013 but failed to make the impact he was hoping for.

Subsequently, he has spent the majority of the previous two seasons out on loan at St Etienne and Real Betis, where again, things haven’t exactly worked out for him.

With Blues supposedly failing in their efforts to take van Wolfswinkel on loan, it could be a sign that a deal for Sheffield United forward Che Adams is close to completion.
