Martyn Waghorn’s asking price seems to be going up and up. Last week TWTD reported that the 28-year-old would cost in the region of £7m before Sheffield United then reportedly made a bid of £5m.

Since then, Blades manager Chris Wilder has been asked about the club’s interest in the Ipswich striker on Sheffield Live radio. He was quoted by the East Anglian Times as saying:

“Well, listen, he’s another one who has a price tag of £8m-£10m and that rules us out straight away.”

I think that safely rules us out of the running too to be honest with you! Waghorn’s 16 goals and 13 assists for the Tractor Boys last season was very impressive, but the excessive price tag is likely to put off any suitors.

We do have money (if we are allowed to spend it) going by our reported bid for Lewis Grabban, but I don’t see any way the club would sanction such a sizeable bid. We desperately need a prolific forward, but I think we can firmly put this rumour to bed now.

  • That price tag is actually laughable. I hope he stays where he is and goes on to have a crap season that I teach them for turning down very good offers. Which to be fair was probably 3 x above his value. There’s better available for less money so that’s the road we go down.

  • Quite right. Very much over priced. Hope Ipswich are left with him. Told you to go and get Marriott from Peterborough, trust me he will fire is up the league before it’s to late.

  • Absolutely ridiculous pricing for Waghorn, don’t get me wrong the Lad can play but the club paid £250.000 if you ask me Ipswich are ” greedy bastards ” to put £8 to 10million on his head. The Lad’s interested in coming to the Lane aswell so for the Blades to put £5million i think that’s more realistic. The Ipswich board could have a problem with a player revolt who’s sole intentions of leaving the club could prove to be bad for buisness if you ask other Ipswich fan’s alike…. from a BLADES fan 100% born and raised.
