Report: Two key factors play into Birmingham’s favour as Premier League team join prospect hunt

|

It never hurts to have multiple teams interested in a player.

It might start a little bit of a bidding war and then who knows what the final transfer fee is going to be. Although whether or not the Blues will be willing to just let him go is a different matter.

According to a report from Football Insider, Brighton and Hove Albion are the latest team to show an interest in Birmingham City’s Adan George, as they make plans to bring him in once his contract expires this summer, with the Premier League side only required to pay a compensation The Seagulls are joined by Leeds United the hunt for his signature.

The report claims that both clubs would be able to get him for a ‘six-figure fee’ if he doesn’t sign a new deal at St Andrew’s between now and then.

It’s a bit of a weird move this one for the Blues. Normally if a reasonable offer comes in for a young talent, I’d be OK with letting them go and using that money to invest in the first-team. However given Pep Clotet’s youth ‘movement’, I think it’s fair to call it that at this stage with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Jack Concannon and Odin Bailey all making appearances this season, I don’t think we should let this guy slip away from us.

Combine that with the fact that Birmingham City aren’t exactly blessed with plenty of options up front, with Lukas Jutkiewicz pushing past 30, Scott Hogan only here on loan and Kerim Mrabti not exactly pulling up any trees since he arrived last year.

Does Adan George have a future at St Andrew's?

Yes

No

Combine the two of them, and it’s not impossible to think that he could find himself in the first-team sooner than he might be able to at other clubs. Hopefully we’ll be able to use those ideas if and when we try and keep a hold of him.
