Report: Jude Bellingham transfer saga takes yet another twist

|

Looks like the fat lady hasn’t quite sung when it comes to Jude Bellingham’s potential move away from St Andrew’s.

Despite the narrative seeming to suggest that the 16-year-old was on his way to Borussia Dortmund this summer, it seems as though Manchester United aren’t willing to give up without a fight. According to reports in The Daily Star, United are willing to pay Bellingham as much as £100,000 a week to join up with them at Old Trafford.

The report later goes on to state that Bellingham’s decision on who to join could be influenced by whether or not the Red Devils manage to qualify for the Champions League next season, with Borussia Dortmund very much in the driving seat when it comes to their hopes of qualifying compared to Manchester United’s, which is still hanging by a thread.

In my mind, this touches on what I said last week, and whether or not we should really be concerned with what choice Bellingham makes. It all depends on whether or not we want him to come back to us in the future.

Do you care which club Jude goes to if he were to leave?

Yes

No

Whilst we should really be holding out for the highest fee, if both clubs offer the same amount, should we then hope that he makes the so-called ‘right choice’ for his career in case things don’t work out and he comes back here in the future? Or do we just think that once he is gone, he’s no longer our problem anymore.

What about you? Do you really care where Bellingham goes, if indeed he goes anywhere at all? Or do you think that once he’s gone, so long as we get decent money for him, that’s the end of the road?

We’ve got a spare Bellingham anyway!

I very much doubt Bellingham has made up his mind. I don’t believe the club have came to an agreement on anyt fee.

The fact that he is on a development contract and not a professional contract means that at this point in his career he can talk to any club talking to them does not mean he is going anyway.

He will most likely sign a professional contract with Birmingham before it makes any other commitment.

What he does after that will be down to him
Whatever he does choose I hope he has a great career. And wish him well.

Matthew, firstly I apologise, i know your piece is about Jude and, like all, I will be sad to see him leave, but I guess we were very unlikely to hold on to him, although another season might have been good! My overall point is that Juke was tipped with a move, Pederson linked yet again with Watford, is it only time that bigger teams will realise how good Bela is and he’ll be another loss – is there actually any chance of building a side that get promoted before all the good players are sold?

Yeah but don’t forget there’s a big chance that Watford will not even be in the Premier League next season.

I think it was Brian Dick that made the point (may have been someone else) before January that the window (and the point still applies here) will probably be dictated by what the outlook of the club is. If we’re moving upwards and look like we’re moving forward (compared to last year at least), then maybe there’s potential for those other players (Jude aside) to stay on and make something happen here.

If we end the season on a long losing run and scrape say 16th in the table, then those players might reconsider their places and guys like Bela/Peds/Juke may move on.

Of course with the season currently on hiatus, who knows when we’re going to find out that sort of stuff, but I tend to follow that logic.

Wherever Jude goes he goes with my best wishes. I hope any money we get isn’t ‘stolen’ or wasted by TTA as big transfer fees for our players do not materialize very often. Football clubs are all the same with clubs higher up the food chain preying off clubs lower down the chain. We are no different and though it’s annoying it’s a dog eat dog business. If we get £10m for Pederson and £30m for Jude then a sizeable sum of at least £20m should be used to strengthen the squad with the addition of at least 5 or 6 good players. The aim should be to get players that increase in value and not players looking for a final big payday. Also the recruitment needs to be sensible in targeting areas we are lacking in.

Anyway I’d just like to say to everyone keep safe and hopefully we can beat this pandemic ASAP so we can get back to normality. KRO.

I think we have to accept that we are just not a big club, as much as we like to think we are. If we develop players that attract the big fish we have to sell them on. Brentford are a much smaller club than we are but they have a good chance of promotion this year, play attractive football and I would imagine are profit making. That is what we have to aspire to, buying cheap, developing and selling on in the hope that we can keep enough decent players for long enough to make a go at promotion. Bellingham and Pederson may be just the first of the players we have to sell on.

Am I missing something here for starters Pedersen once Premier League football Watford were the club in for him but they may not even be in the Premier League next season.

Bellingham has had talks with other clubs simply because he’s not on a professional contract and he does not need permission to talk to other clubs at this time in his career. That does not mean he’s made any decisions.

So what does everyone else know I don’t know or are you all just making it up as you go along??????
