Birmingham have came in for criticism this season for taking controlling positions in games and then appearing to fall off after half time. Reilly believes that he understands it from both sides.

Now the young player is back in the team he has explained that even the team don’t quite know what is going on.

He told Birminghammail.com

‘To be honest, it is something that we haven`t quite been able to put our finger on. We know, from a lot of our first-halves and performances in spells, that we can take the game to anyone.

“You can say, yes, we have done well in first-halves but not always got the results, but hopefully the game at Millwall was one where we can kick-start and turn the corner.”

He did explain that they know the fans think that they change tactics and then lose the grip on the game, but from the games where he has been in the dressing room, they are told to stick to the plan.

It was also mentioned that he feels other teams were adapting to Birmingham, making the game more difficult for them. Which could be a reasonable point to make.

Blues seemed to find some joy before the international break and will be hoping it is set to continue in tomorrow’s fixture as well. Bolton are boosted by their new manager Neil Lennon, so it will be an interesting indication of which of these teams will fair better over the winter.
