REF’S REVIEW (EXCLUSIVE)

Mr Stroud from Hampshire after an excellent game at Plainmoor followed up with an equally proficient display in the replay. In a game where there is a disparity in status between the sides and particularly when the senior side is struggling, fans often turn on the referee to vent their frustration. Mr Stroud was spared this treatment as he didn?t give them the opportunity to question his decisions.

This ref is new to even the Football League but should be moving up again before long.

In a game where possession was equally shared so was the foul count and several penalty shouts were ignored at both ends. Mr Stroud appeared to be aware that a player that goes down in the box may be fouled, he may dive or it is possible that he just stumbled. Premiership refs who caution for a dive as an alternative to giving a penalty are cheats. Mr Stroud did not fall into that trap.

Small in stature it is not difficult to forget that he is there but Mr Stroud also kept a low profile and remembered that no one was there to see him perform let alone hog the limelight. He is tipped for promotion to the Premiership. Hopefully we will be there too to reap the benefit of his undoubted ability.
