Reece Brown has been a frustrating player to manage at times. His attitude has been criticised and his application has been lacking. After being suspended from the club last season, it seemed like his time at Blues had reached the end of the road.

But credit where it is due, Brown has grabbed his ‘last chance` with both hands. The 20 year-old possesses all the ability a young lad could wish for. His distribution with the ball at his feet is sublime and he can spray a pass through the eye of a needle.

It`s no exaggeration to say that Brown could potentially be one of the best academy products Birmingham City has ever produced. That reason alone is why Gary Rowett has persisted with him.

Many other players would have been out of the door and plying their trade in non-league at this point. But Brown`s ability wasn`t going to be let go without an almighty fight.

After an arm around the shoulder, he seems to be prospering. During pre-season, Brown has been one of the shining lights in Blues` performances. He`s bulked up slightly, he has listened to advice and got his head down and is now doing what he does best.

There is a real possibility that Brown could be in the first team picture this season. He offers another option in the middle of the park which is vital during a long, gruelling season. If he keeps on his current track, this could be the start of a very good footballer.

Over to you, Reece.
