Birmingham City under 21 star, Reece Brown has continued to impress at Blues, carrying on his fine form. The 19 year old English man has made very little impact with the first team; however, Rowett is keeping a close eye on his improvements.

The attacking midfielder scored twice, along with Denny Johnstone, to secure a 4-1 win against Bristol City under 21`s last week. The blues boss has commented on the youngster, saying that his ability on the ball is excellent, though his off the ball game needs improvement.

Early last month, Rowett commented on Brown`s abilities and said ‘He is a very small, technical player; in terms of passing and retention of the ball. He is a talented boy and I would say that if we were sat here now on 55 points then Reece Brown would probably be in the team and we`d learn how good he is.’ Gary has mentioned his intentions to give Brown a chance in the future, but for now, wants to secure a safe amount of points.

On Saturday 21st March, Birmingham faced Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium, and Brown himself travelled to Wales with the squad. Unfortunately, Brown, alongside 27 year old Centre Back Michael Morrison, did not make the final cut. Despite this, potential is showing after every appearance for the youth squad: a first team start could be just around the corner.

A start for the young man would bring a spark to the squad, for the players and fans. A young talent is always an excitement for everybody, as shown by Demarai Gray`s consistent first team action this season.

Brown needs continue his hard work throughout training, showing positive signs, to make him a ‘must have` amongst the squad. His attacking creativity and talent could really make a difference going forward for Blues, hopefully helping to score and set up goals in the future.
