Nathan Redmond will play at St Andrews for the first time since leaving his hometown club in the Summer of 2013.

“It`s going to be good, obviously,” smiled Redmond. “It`s my hometown club. I signed there when I was eight years old and I came through the ranks at the club – I think I was really appreciated by the fans.

“The same love that I had for them, they sort of had for me – because I was one of them. So it`s obviously going to be emotional and a good game.

“But I know that I have to perform well for Norwich, and the three points will be the main thing.”

There was a real sense of connection between Redmond and Birmingham, almost a match made perfectly for each other. A passionate player at a time where the fans needed something positive as apposed to the toxic atmosphere being passed down from the clubs owners.

Birmingham Sold Redmond for just £3.2 million in the middle of their financial crisis, where their crippling wage bill was causing the club considerable harm.

Redmond returns years later after establishing himself as a useful member of the Norwich squad. He made just 62 appearances for Blues before they were forced to let him go.

He returns in good form, having scored in their last Championship game against Brentord and also hit the net in a 5-0 win over Huddersfield back in December.
