Harry Redknapp’s comment that he knows ‘less about Birmingham City than any other club in the Championship’ doesn’t matter a jot.

If anything, it’s a good thing as his first team selection on Sunday will be based on what he sees in training this week. Every player has a clean slate.

If Redknapp had watched Blues in recent months, he may have been reluctant to accept the job, such was the hopeless nature of Blues under Gianfranco Zola.

Suddenly, there’s an excitement around the place. Players who had been frozen out have the opportunity to force their way back in. Players who had been playing and struggling to come to terms with Zola’s favoured tactics can look forward to a more simplified approach.

The four points he’s targeting to ensure safety is achievable with the personnel at his disposal.

With a bit of TLC, Redknapp can instill the confidence that has been sucked out of the players recently.

Hope. Something we haven’t had for a long time.

  • I agree we have the players to pull off a couple of draws and possibly a win but it will be down to how we set up and the tactics employed. For me we just need to get back to the basics of defending and hitting teams on the break. We have some speed and ability in the team now so lets use it. Zola set up to win every game and had the players too high up the pitch resulting in us being the ones hit on the break and we are simply not good enough for that. One stray pass, and we are pretty good at these, and the opposition are on you, and rather than just launch the ball into touch we try to play football in our defensive area of the pitch or get out muscled into making a mistake. Harry will know what needs to be done and will identify the players and tactics to give us a chance of pulling it off, but can this group of players dig deep enough? We will have to wait and see. IMO 2 points will do it.

  • …………………………………..KUZ ..
    Tesche ……..Shots……..,…….,……..Bielik…………..Grounds …
    Nsue…………Gardener ……………..Gleeson ………Frei…..
    …..,…………….Juke …………………….Adams ….

  • Because an idiot has altered the formation ROB ….KUZ in goal Tesche at RB because his positioning is better than Nsues ..Shots and Bielik at centreback Grounds at left back …Nsue at right wing ..Gardener and Gleeson central midfield …Frei left wing ..Adams and the Juke up front ..

  • David Village – we cannot amend comments so I’m not sure what you’re getting at. I’ve only just read the damn thing :/ how can anyone claim that Nsue (who has been one of our better players) should be dropped for Tesche who offers absolutely nothing.

  • Sorry I see you’ve got Nsue right wing. I’d go for a flat 442… Kuszczak, Nsue, Bielik, Shotton, Grounds, Maghoma, Gardner, Davis, Frei, Jutkiewicz, Adams.

  • HR interview is impressive. Just hope he gives us next season regardless of what division we are in.

  • My team is Kusczak if fit,Gardner right back,Shotton,Beilik,Grounds,Davis,MK,Gleeson,Maghoma,Adams and Jukey.

  • Tesche positional sense is pretty good in front of goal and he has quite a good aLround ability ..I’d like Nsue at right wing because of the danger he can cause …As with Frei …. ..Gardener and gleeson can make goals with their passing …

  • 4-4-1-1 Kuszczak,GK Nsue, RB Bielik,CB Shotton,CB Grounds,LB Keita,LW Gardner,CM Davis,CM Frei,RW Adams, ACM Jutkiewicz, CF
