Birmingham City are once again being linked with a move for Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick.

Harry Redknapp seems keen to further strengthen his central defensive options despite signing Marc Roberts just over a week ago.

The Blues boss sees a deal for Elphick more likely than his attempt to lure Derby County’s Richard Keogh to St. Andrew’s.

Elphick, 29, joined Villa from Bournemouth last summer and was appointed captain at Villa Park.

He lost his place in the side once Steve Bruce took over from Roberto Di Matteo but still made 26 Championship appearances across the campaign.

Elphick won the Championship title with Bournemouth in 2014/15.
