Redknapp eyeing up Tykes captain

Harry Redknapp is eyeing up a move for Barnsley captain Marc Roberts, according to the Daily Mirror`s Midlands writer James Nursey.

Roberts, 26, has one year remaining on his contract at Oakwell and has previously been linked with Aston Villa. The 6ft 4in defender has made 80 appearances since joining Barnsley from Halifax two years ago.

It is thought that Redknapp would have to shell out a sum in excess of £2m for the Tykes` skipper who has previously represented England at C level.
