According to reports, Reading are about to make an offer to Birmingham City for defender Curtis Davies, and they want him on the cheap.

The Royals are looking to boost their defence and with Blues looking like they will have to sell players, Reading could be set to try and cash in.

The Mirror reports that the Premier League outfit will come in with a £1.5million offer for Davies and with Birmingham said to be struggling with the high wages, they might be tempted to sell.

He is speculated to be on £27,000 a week and Blues could do with saving that, along with the £55,000 that Nikola Zigic earns, another name that has been linked with a move away.
