Birmingham City appear to be front runners to sign Swindon free agent Wes Foderingham, after Reading reportedly pulled out of a deal to sign the player.

Reading have decided to pursue other options after being unable to convince the keeper that his future would be best served by joining the Royals.

Instead, FLIC Sport are claiming that Birmingham have always been in pole position to sign the 24 year old; who has been an integral part of Swindon’s recent successes.

Birmingham are desperate to sign a new keeper after losing both of their most seasoned stoppers this summer. Colin Doyle was the first to go after being informed the club would not be interested in extending his contract.

Darren Randolph then informed the club that he would like to move to Premier League club West Ham, he thanked the club for his time with them before moving to London.

Wes Foderingham made 191 appearances for Swindon Town and now looks set for a move to the Championship, regardless of which club he chooses.

We need a keeper sooner rather than later to settle into the squad and his surroundings before the Birmingham squad regroup for their pre-season European fitness tour.
