Birmingham keeper Darren Randolph has been revealing who he supported for the World Cup and some injury news about the end of last season.

Randolph explained that he has dual citizenship as his father is American and so he was back home for the World Cup supporting USA with his dad.

The keeper would be free to play for the United States as he is yet to play in a competitive game for Ireland. But he insists he is simply focused on Blues having a good season and any international recognition he may get would be a bonus.

Randolph may well have played for Ireland this summer but revealed he had to turn down the call up due to his injured shoulders. He said he had finished the season last year with injections in both shoulders to help the cause.

With the off season, he needed to rest both of them to recover for pre-season.

“It wasn`t ideal but to get through the games and help out the team has to be done. There were a lot of players getting injections and struggling through the last couple of months. I got the call up in the summer but I needed that time off to rest my shoulders.”

The Irishman said you have to play fit to do yourself justice and so opted for the summers rest. Randolph looks set to continue his no 1 role for Blues this season.
