Birmingham City are ready to offer Darren Randolph a new deal but Rowett admits that the player may want to see if there is anything higher available to him.

The goalkeeper has been in inspired form for Birmingham since joing on a free transfer from Motherwell and boss Rowett knows that he has one of the best keepers in the league in his squad.

But Blues may have to wait for an answer as there are likely to be other clubs watching the situation. Randolph’s contract is running out and clubs may want to snap him up on a cheap deal during the January window.

Birmingham may have to give him a considerable pay increase if other clubs do come in for him. What works in their favor is it seems the player is very happy with Blues and he would be leaving as the club are turning into a good team.

Randolph is a squad keeper for Ireland and has been no 1 at Birmingham since Lee Clark signed him in 2013. Whilst he is not without the odd mishap, he is mostly a terrific keeper and acts as Blues hero regularly.

Losing such a good keeper would be a big blow to Birmingham. He has been so important to the club in his time here and I would like to seem him stay.

Again, as Rowett said, it is likely that at this stage in his career he will want to see what else is out there and how high he can play. With the comes the risk of sitting on a Premier League bench, but players take that risk all of the time.

Birmingham do have Doyle, a loyal and solid replacement should Randolph get offered a deal elsewhere.
