Birmingham City centre-half Martin Taylor has returned from his loan sell at Norwich – but reports suggest Alex McLeish plans to sell the player next month.

Taylor, 28, made eight appearances for the Canaries after playing just once for the Blues this season, against Blackburn in the League Cup in September. While reports suggest Taylor is keen on another loan move, it has been claimed McLeish wants to offload him permanently.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Taylor had hoped to try and convince new boss Alex McLeish he was worthy of a place in the first-team, but was told he will be made available for transfer in January.

Queens Park Rangers, backed by Formula One money in the shape of Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, are thought to be interested as they look to salvage something from their drab season.

However, Taylor’s performances at Norwich – where he won the player of the month award for November – are sure to have alerted a number of clubs in the Championship, so it’s unlikely there will be a long wait for the offers to arrive in January.
