Previous Championship experience will carry Lukas Jutkiewicz

On deadline day, Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett was finally able to bring in a striker with previous Premier League and Championship experience with Burnley striker Lukas Jutkiewicz coming through the doors at St.Andrews.

The 27-year-old striker trained with his teammates on the morning that his move was announced and although he hasn’t scored a goal during his time with the Clarets, I am pretty sure that given the right service at Blues, he will be back to scoring goals in no time.

As the Blues boss rightly pointed out on his arrival, Blues’ current number nine Clayton Donaldson is currently away on international duty with Jamaica and with such a long journey, the 32-year-old forward is likely to need a rest once he has returned to the club.

Because of that, Jutkiewicz is likely to be called upon and following a good spell in the Championship whilst on loan at Bolton Wanderers, who are now in League One, I have every faith that the on loan forward will produce his best for us in a side that is progressing week after week.

With the likes of Che Adams, Jacques Maghoma and David Davis all starting to hit good early season form, it won’t be long in my eyes before the ball drops to Jutkiewicz in the box and he buries it in the back of the net.

Some Blues fans may have criticised Rowett for this piece of business but how can we criticise it when he hasn’t even played a competitive match in a royal blue shirt? It baffles me really!

What happened to never judging a book by its cover? For all we know, the former Middlesbrough striker could really hit the ground running and score four goals in his opening two games and then where will all the haters be? Sat down St.Andrews saying ‘I always knew he was good him’, when in actual fact, they’d probably never heard of him before he signed on Wednesday.

All I can say is that we need to give the lad some time and I know that isn’t something that people get given a lot of in this day and age but trust me, he will start performing and for all we know, his deal could get extended in January if he performs well enough.

Blues fans, do you agree that we need to give Lukas Jutkiewicz time before we start throwing criticism at him? Let us know in the comment section down below!
