Predicted Line Up Vs Reading

Saturday will signal the first match of a highly anticipated first full season in charge for Blues manager Gary Rowett. With all players within the squad having been given plenty of chance to impress throughout pre season, I pick my starting line up for the Saturdays match and compare it with how Rowett may differ in selection.

The number one jersey seems to pick itself. Tomasz Kuszczak has been nailed down as the number one stopper and I feel myself and Rowett are similar in the fact that we would both have the giant Pole in between the sticks on Saturday.

The defence is still a big area which I feel needs strengthening. Paul Caddis; Michael Morrison and Jonathan Grounds all pick themselves in our starting line up. The big question mark is over our fellow centre back. I feel Jonathan Spector will be the man to partner Morrison but personally I would stick the club captain straight into the firing line. With Reading lacking any real pace upfront, it could be the perfect game for the skipper to display his dogged characteristics.

The Midfield three will raise the biggest question, all hints throughout pre season suggest it will be Stephen Gleeson and new signing Maikel Kieftenbeld to partner up in the central pairing with Andrew Shinnie infront. Unfortunatly Gleeson doesn’t make the cut for me, he’s far too lightweight and despite his reputation of being a pinpoint passer, I fail to see him match that description. David Davis is my man to partner the Dutch hardman in the centre. Davis is a much more solid player and although his passing may not be great, his work rate is second to none and should be a regular pick in our side this season.

The front three selection is pretty self explanatory, with Gray and Cottrill the two who are likely to be selected by the Blues gaffer out on the wings with last seasons top scorer Clayton Donaldson to be the lone striker for me and the Blues gaffer.

Rowetts line up prediction- Kuszczac; Caddis; Morrison; Spector; Grounds; Cotterill; Gleeson; Kieftenbeld; Gray ; Shinnie ; Donaldson.

My line up- Kuszczac; Caddis; Morrison; Robinson; Grounds; Cotterill; Davis; Kieftenbeld; Gray ; Shinnie ; Donaldson.
