Will Birmingham City Make The Play-Offs? This was the question that I posed to you a couple of weeks ago on the Vital site.

The results: ‘Will Birmingham City Make The Play-Offs?’

YES – 58%
NO – 42%

It is also interesting to note that early doors, the poll result showed a slight swing for no and as the week has progressed, the yes vote has overtaken leading to a clear winner.

I believe that the momentum that we have has to be accredited to both the teams physicality and also their mentality. Losses against Forest and Rotherham were rather tough to face considering the optimism that surrounds the club.

And with a lesser team, this result may have knocked the stuffing out of them. One shock defeat may have lead to another and this is the spiral of decline that no football team wants to get into. Luckily, we have Rowett. He has kept the team firing on all cylinders.

We lose Cotterill… Fine, not a problem. Any injury or defeat is water off a ducks back for Gary and I think that this mentality is one that will bring us our rewards come the end of the season.

What is interesting about the poll result also is those of you that have said no. Why is this? I suppose that momentum can shift and it doesn’t have to be that we have played poorly, it’s just that other teams such as Reading have come good.

It obviously depends on injuries and spontaneous circumstances but overall I was surprised at how close the results were considering the rise up the table and how we have maintained that over the past few weeks.

I guess there are always those people that do not want to tempt fate and I suppose if we don’t make the play offs, I shall be blamed for jinxing it. But the fact that 42% of people think that we will not be in the top few teams despite our good start baffles me. Comments below would be greatly appreciated.
