Poll: Do You See Ex Birmingham Star Returning To St Andrews?

|

Former Blues goalkeeper Joe Hart has been linked with a move back to the club this morning. It’s a pretty tenuous link though as the Birmingham Mail have used Sky Bet odds to make the story.

They say we are now among the favourites for the England international this summer. Considering the reported transfer embargo, and the fact that Joe’s wages would be astronomical, it seems pretty far-fetched for me at the moment.

Hart has struggled for form over the past two years during his loan spells at Torino and West Ham, and the Daily Mail reported a few days ago that the 31-year-old is set to leave his parent club Manchester City.

The keeper wants to go on a permanent basis and City would command a transfer fee for the player, although the Mail suggests a free transfer hasn’t been ruled out.

Seeing him playing at St Andrew’s would be a sight to see, but it seems very unlikely, even if he was free. The major obstacle to any transfer would be his £120,000 a week wages, and while Hart would likely be prepared to take a significant salary cut, I can’t see him reducing it to a level we could afford.

What do you think? Could Hart play for the club again? Let me know in the poll:
