Pocket Dynamo Danns

Steve Bruce has labelled new signing Neil Danns a ‘pocket dynamo’, following his £850,000 signing from Colchester.

‘He’s one of those pocket dynamo types, he’s a very lively player who likes to get into goalscoring positions.

‘And, as we saw last season, he’s capable of getting more than his fair share of goals. I think we all know that goal-scoring has been our big problem. Not just from up top, but around the whole team.

‘In midfield especially last season we struggled, apart from Jiri Jarosik, and most of his goals were spectacular ones.

‘We know we need more of a goal threat from midfield and hopefully Neil’s addition will help bring that.’

Speaking generally on the squad Bruce commented:

‘Although you require one or two experienced heads, we’ve needed to build a new, young team. With the likes of Neil Kilkenny, Mat Sadler and Macos Painter coming through and signing new contracts, there’s a nucleus forming.

‘With Cameron Jerome and now Neil coming in, we’ve got some energy and vitality in there.

‘We are looking to add to our squad, I’m expecting that we will conclude deals for one or two others very soon.’
